Autumn is the most magical time of the year; spiced colors, crisp air, coziness and scrumptious fall treats (most importantly!). Life couldn't be more enchanting. Keep reading for some awesome fall freebies at the end of the article!

A classic adventure for the fall season, apple-picking is a great way to gather friends or family and spend a day in the sun surrounded by the smells and colors of fresh apples.

Don't forget to fill your belly with cider and donuts!

Makes for a great day of IG-worthy fun! With your riding boots on and your latte in hand, you'll have a blast rustling up the perfect pumpkins for carving with your S/O.

You might even get a hay ride out of the deal!

3) Relax With A Fall Foliage Train Ride

There is something undeniably magical about a train ride, but add fall foliage to the mix and you'll have a truly unforgettable day worthy of the best bucket lists around.

This is a super chill way to celebrate the autumn season and soak up some serious natural beauty.

4) Get Lit On A Wine and Cheese Tour

Hit the phone tree and find that DD because it's about to get tipsy!

What could possibly be better than riding through the autumn countryside, visiting exquisite vineyards, drinking delicious booze and stuffing your face with artisanal cheeses?!

Absolutely nothing, that's what. Round up your favorite people for this memory-making (and losing) adventure and don't forget your purse flask!

5) Visit Your Local Harvest Festivals

Visit Your Local Harvest Festivals

 O.M.G. I live for a harvest festival!

With all the cute craft booths, fried donuts, cider and cornstalks a girl could handle, getting lost in a small town Fall Fest is just what your autumn-loving, candy-apple-overdosing little heart needs!

I usually scout out a few for the weekend and make a day trip of it! Great for little kids and big kids alike 😁

6) Take A Trip To New England During The Fall Foliage Peak

Take A Trip To New England During The Fall Foliage Peak
Take A Trip To New England During The Fall Foliage Peak

It's easy to humbug a little getaway when we're forced to consider boring, awful adult things like missing work and paying bills, but I promise you, life goes by much faster than we realize.

Before we know it, we look up and 10 years have passed, and often what we have to show for it is an enormous unused stack of PTO and few joyful memories.

STOP IT! SEIZE THE MF DAY! Block out the date, dip into the savings and hit the road!

New England in the autumn boasts colors and quaintness unrivaled; the moments and memories you and your loved ones will never forget.

You deserve beautiful experiences and your loved ones are worthy of your quality time. So start living a life of Hell Yes! You'll thank yourself later 😉

7) Snap Fall Photographs

Snap Fall Photographs
Snap Fall Photographs

This is one of my favorite fall jams. Autumn is a time of crisp air and crackling energy. Use it to stoke your creative fires and put that iPhone camera to the test!

You can even set yourself little project goals for a day out in the autumn season, like 10 pics of fall leaves, autumn color studies or 10 textures that tickle your art tummy!

Then take a massive pic dump on Instagram and make the digital world a magical fall wonderland!

8) Savor A Pumpkin Spice Latte

Savor A Pumpkin Spice Latte
Savor A Pumpkin Spice Latte

Listen. We know you secretly love pumpkin spice but your anti aesthetic prevents you from admitting it. Just go get the damn latte. Put it in a flask with some whiskey if it makes you feel less basic.

Your mouth buds will thank you for it and your ironic little heart will grow 3 times bigger! If you're already honest about your basic status and are ready to sing the anthem of PUMPKIN SPICE EVERYTHING loud and proud, then this is your time!

Put that Starbucks cup accessory in the air and shout AUTUMN IS HERE!

9) Frolic In The Autumn Leaves

Frolic In The Autumn Leaves
Frolic In The Autumn Leaves

There's a singular, childish joy one gets from the crunching of autumn leaves under feet. Lean into it! Kick them, throw them, roll around in big piles of them!

Summon that 7 year old and bask in the glory of an autumn leaf bath! If you need an excuse to feel less ridiculous about it, do a photoshoot with some frolicking friends and turn it into a project!

10) Get Crafty Carving Pumpkins

Get Crafty Carving Pumpkins

Now's your time to shine, boo! Make them cute, make them weird, make them political if you're the type to make a cause out of everything!

There's no wrong way to carve a pumpkin, even if that looks like punching a hole in it because you can't get the mouth right. Get creative and most importantly, get messy!

Don't forget to clean up those pumpkin seeds, sprinkle them with some salt or cinnamon sugar and pop them in the oven for a scrumptious autumn snack!

11) Experience A State Park In Autumn

Experience A State Park In Autumn
Experience A State Park In Autumn

As an Upstate New Yorker, I'm wildly lucky to have a multitude of mind-blowing state parks a stone's throw away from me in any direction.

One of my favorite fall joys is packing the car with some mud boots, a walking stick, a camera and some snacks and hiking out into the splendor of a state park in autumn.

Communing with nature will give your soul a hug and when you get home, spent and happy, you'll feel like a little kid fresh out of the bath. I know that sounds weird, but try it and you'll see what I mean!

12) Create Waxed Leaves

Create Waxed Leaves
Create Waxed Leaves

A super easy craft for the whole family, creating waxed leaves prolongs their amazing colors for much longer and is the perfect way to have some fall fun on a lazy Sunday.

Just pop your favorite leaves between 2 sheets of wax paper (which you can get at any grocery store for super cheap), then iron over the wax paper continuously moving the iron for 30-60 seconds.

Voila! Now you have wax-coated, brightly colored autumn leaves! Tie them to a string for a a cute natural banner, tape them to you windows as decoration, make a leaf mobile from #21 on this list, the possibilities are endless!

13) Bake Mouth-Watering Pumpkin Muffins

Bake Mouth-Watering Pumpkin Muffins
Bake Mouth-Watering Pumpkin Muffins
Honey Boo Boo, Have I got a recipe for you! I'm a sucker for seasonal sweets and my autumn is not complete without the yummy joy of some killer pumpkin muffins.

There's something about baking that makes me feel a sense of accomplishment – it's like birthing my own sweet little babies...in an oven...that I'll eat? That got weird, sorry.

ANYWAY, this recipe from Once Upon a Chef for Pumpkin Muffins with Pecan Streusel will knock your autumn socks off and make you the golden child of your office, sure to avoid a write up for at least a week! Go Bake and Prosper!

14) Have A Blast Decorating Your Yard For Autumn

This is by far my favorite way to get into the spirit of the autumn season.

There's something so joyful and satisfying about turning my yard into a canvas and watching it come alive with all the festive little scarecrows, wagons, signs and wreaths scattered around!

Hit the stores and splurge on some eye candy to level up your autumn season!

15) Get Stuffed At Your Own Witch’s Thanksgiving

Get Stuffed At Your Own Witch’s Thanksgiving
Get Stuffed At Your Own Witch’s Thanksgiving

The Witch's Thanksgiving is the perfect excuse to get away with having your turkey-binge early this year, AND to celebrate the harvest season with your favorite people!

Part of the nature-based spiritual practice of Pagans, the Witch's Thanksgiving, also known as the Autumn Equinox, occurs on September 21st and lasts for several days.

It's a time when the day and the night are divided equally – a time of perfect balance, and also a time traditionally to start storing the harvest from the years' crops.

This is a time to reflect on and celebrate the balance and bounty in your life, to pay tribute to Mother Earth for her fertile soil and nutritious food, and to share your love and warmth.

Whether it's an intimate meal with family or a raucous feast with friends, the Witch's Thanksgiving is a great way to start an early fall tradition of gathering and good food.

I know most of us have a habit of thinking, "Nothing is ever going on here! This place sucks!"

But your town or city has more going on for the changing seasons and the holidays than you may realize. Crack open your Google machine and search for fall activities in your area – you'll be surprised to find a bounty at your fingertips!

18) Hand-paint Your Own Fall Mug

I have an admission to make: My Name Is Dee, and I'm a Mug-aholic. I have small ones and fat ones and tall ones and ones I hate but refuse to throw away because what if I have company.

Part of the reason for mug-hoarding is that I can never find just the right one. Because I had to MAKE one! And now you can too, with this awesome Youtube tutorial!

Picture yourself with a steaming, adorable hand-painted mug of creamy coffee or tea, sitting in your backyard watching the leaves fall and the squirrels scurry. Does that not sound like the loveliest way to wake up ever?!

19) Gather A Bouquet of Autumn Wildflowers

From Purple Prairie Clover to Orange Tiger Lilies, the world is in full autumn bloom!

Take advantage of this explosion of fall flowers, skip the bouquets in the supermarket line and pick a few on an autumn stroll.

Put them in a rustic vase or mason jar for an immediate mood-booster at home!

20) Simmer Your Own Mulled Cider or Mulled Wine At Home

Simmer Your Own Mulled Cider or Mulled Wine At Home
Simmer Your Own Mulled Cider or Mulled Wine At Home

Used as an ancient curative against the cold of autumn and winter nights, mulling wine and cider is a tradition worth keeping alive in your cozy little den.

Put your wine or cider in a pan on the stove, throw in some orange slices, whole cloves, cinnamon sticks and a dash of nutmeg and let it simmer for 10-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Then curl up in front of a fire with a book and your steaming, spicy, autumn-y elixir and chill! Not only is this drink the answer to everything, but it will also make your whole house smell absolutely fall-divine!

21) Craft A Hanging Autumn Leaf Mobile

I love this craft because making it is super easy and you can find everything you need for it right in your own backyard! This Youtube tutorial gives you a few extra ideas for fall decorating, too!

This autumn leaf mobile can turn any space in your home into a chic fall haven. Use the wax leaves you've made in #12 and hang one on the porch or from a tree to create a magical sun catcher!

22) Do A Tarot Reading And Get Woke

Do A Tarot Reading And Get Woke
Do A Tarot Reading And Get Woke

Although Tarot has lit up Instagram like avocado toast, reading tarot cards is actually an ancient spiritual practice that has been surrounded by mystery and rumor until recent times.

Sitting down with a tarot deck that inspires you, laying out a spread of cards and then reading about what fate has in store for you and what advice the Universe wants you to have is perfect for the introspective energy and atmosphere of autumn.

Ask questions about money, love, your career or your whether you should get rid of those pink skinny jeans or not, or use them to meditate on a specific subject you're seeking answers to. It's the right time of year to get woke!

23) Throw A Fall Foliage Party

Throw A Fall Foliage Party

Round up friends and family and prepare to let your Party Goddess run wild!

Set up pumpkin and autumn leaf crafts for the kids, set up a spiked cider bar for the grown folks and put up those fall banners, balloons and streamers.

Bake, boil, simmer, lay out the spread and let your party-goers swoon over the Hostess with the Autumn Mostest!

24) Unwind with a Bonfire

The only thing better than the crisp autumn air is the smell of a fire on the breeze.

Gather up your people, crack open the marshmallows and chocolate bars, throw some cider on the fire and kick back.

A bonfire makes for the perfect evening of laughs, snacks and story-worthy memories.

25) Bask In The Glory Of A Sunflower Field

Get your floppy hat and your camera ready because early fall is Sunflower season! Hit the back country roads and stop for some photo-album-worthy shots of these golden flower fields.

Take all the selfies! Your mom will love them.

26) Take Off On A Fall Foliage Drive

Take Off On A Fall Foliage Drive

I can't get enough of a lazy, aimless drive through the country hills, especially in fall. I like to hit the road around 6:30pm to ensure I get that golden hour magic of bright orange sun setting all the colors and wheat fields on fire.

My soul fills with the joys of the open road and the natural splendor of autumn. In moments like these, there is no doubt that life is art!

So grab your snacks, fill your tank, throw on some Mumford and Sons and relax into a meditative cruise. Don't forget to crack your windows to get those good fall smells!

27) Get Cozy With A Blanket and Book

Get Cozy With A Blanket and Book
Get Cozy With A Blanket and Book

The day is cool and grey, the bed is warm and cozy and you just can't want to. So don't!

Sometimes we need a self-care day to chill and recuperate, and there's no better way to be kind to yourself than to make a mug of hot cocoa, get back in bed and fall into a great book.

Allow yourself a guilt-free day of comfort and you'll be refreshed and ready to face the world tomorrow!

28) Treat Yourself To An Apple Cinnamon Mug Cake

I'm just gonna say it – I'm obsessed with mug cakes. I will try any and every mug cake recipe on the planet because I'm a cake junky and usually way too lazy to bake.

So, I've dug up this autumn classic of Apple Crumb Cake in microwavable mug cake form from PickledPlum, and as soon as I'm done writing this I'm going to make one. You should too. Right now.

29) Take A Crisp Fall Walk Through The City

Autumn has a way of making a city enchanting – the leaves swirling and crunching under foot on the sidewalks, the fall window displays of small shops with warm light inviting you inside.

What a time to be alive! Take a solo day to wander around your city streets in the brisk autumn air and you might find some local gems you never knew were there.

30) Make Heartwarming Homemade Stew

I sit on the edge of my seat all summer just waiting for stew season, and it's finally here!

This Best Ever Slow Cooker Beef Stew Recipe from Diethood is exactly what I've been dreaming of, and the fact that it's a crockpot recipe for those of us who don't have time to watch the stove for 3 hours is a massive bonus!

Throw a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar in this dish for some extra fall flair!

31) Meditate With Outdoor Yoga On A Brisk Morning

Bust out those fleece-lined leggings and prepare for a truly refreshing session!

With the leaves falling around you, the sound of wind through the changing trees and the cool morning air on your skin, this rejuvenating routine is sure to level up your day and have you on the top of your game.

32) Take Yourself On A Fall Picnic

Whether by yourself or with some friends, a picnic is essential for a well rounded autumn season.

Dust off your plaid blanket, load up your adorable basket with grapes, cheeses, cured meats and some wine, grab a good book or even bring your tarot cards and hit your favorite local park for the ultimate chill session.

33) Make Gourmet Homemade Caramel Apples

From donating canned goods to donating time at shelters and soup kitchens, there are tons of ways that you can give back to those having a tough time in your community.

The spirit of autumn is all about togetherness, sharing what we have and spreading warmth and love. Add some extra sparkle to your fall by helping those in need!

35) Go Horseback Riding Through the Leaves

Are horses not totally majestic?! Listen. Do yourself a life-changing favor and go on a horseback-riding adventure this fall!

Not only will you get to experience nature in a whole new way, but you'll have the privilege of connecting with this beautiful animal! (OMG I love animaaaaals!!!)

I promise there's nothing quite like it, and your family or friends will remember this spectacular occasion forever.

36) Make An Autumn Pinterest Board

Make An Autumn Pinterest Board

I know you've already been cruising Pinterest for autumn boards since July, but now it's time to start giving back to the Pinterest community by making your own!

There's something cathartic about avoiding all your responsibilities by spending hours pinning hundreds of your favorite fall eye-candies.

You're absolutely right, you DO need to organize a fall party board, and a Halloween party board, and a fall fashion board, and the list goes on. Dive in and have a blast! (But please remember that you still have to work in the morning.)

Check out this Rustic Fall Farmhouse post for some super cute decorating ideas and FREE PRINTABLES! And check out this Autumn Home Decor Board on Pinterest for great ideas to get you started!

37) Get A Cute Overdose At A Petting Zoo

OMG BABY GOATS AAAAHHHH!!!! That's the reaction you and everyone you're with will have the second you step foot in a petting zoo this fall season!

Animals have an uncanny ability to make us laugh, make us swoon, make us cry (I'm not crying about baby animals, YOU'RE crying about baby animals!) and heal our little hearts.

This is the best thing you could do for yourself this fall, and if you have kiddies to bring, get that video rolling and prepare to go viral!

38) Relax With Homemade Spiced Hot Chocolate

Get ready for some serious heat on these chilly autumn nights!

This recipe for Spicy Aztec Hot Chocolate from The Endless Meal is exactly what you need to unwind from a day of email slinging and fielding Janet's passive-aggressive comments about cleaning the break room.

Add a splash of booze if you really want to beat the cold!

39) Cuddle Up For A Fall Movie Marathon

Curl up with your S/O or some popcorn pals and dig in to some delicious fall movies.

Dead Poets Society, Little Women, Cider House Rules, When Harry Met Sally and Autumn in New York, to name a few, are all great films to get you in the mood for the cozy, colorful fall season!

40) Go For A Refreshing Autumn Bike Ride

Keep cool while working up a sweat with an autumn bike ride through your local parks and city streets.

Riding through the tree-lined trails will take you on a tour of the fall colors unlike anything else!

41) Paint Your Nails Fall Colors

Paint Your Nails Fall Colors

Listen to me. A gel polish kit is going to change your nail game FOREVER!

I'm one of those unfortunate souls that will put a sweater on 10 seconds after my last coat of normal nail polish, and you can imagine the swearing that comes with that catastrophe.

But since I got a gel polish set up with the lamp and the whole deal, my. nails. are. PERFECT. No more fingerprints, no more smudges, AND, the color hardens nails and lasts up to 3 weeks with no chips. Can you even handle that?!

Seriously, you will be blessed by the nail goddesses when you come to the gel side!

42) Enjoy The Sights And Sounds Of A Farmer’s Market

Enjoy The Sights And Sounds Of A Farmer’s Market
Enjoy The Sights And Sounds Of A Farmer’s Market

The bustling of people browsing, the chattering of deals being done, the little carts with colorful produce and the sweet smells of roasting nuts all add up to make for a cheerful autumn weekend excursion.

Farmer's Markets are one of my great loves – there's something about the booths and people and trinkets that bring me back to being a child at an ice cream social.

Getting great deals on local foods is a mega plus for this fall outing!

43) Paint An Autumn Watercolor

My crafting skills are level MacGyver, but my painting skills are level Teddy Grams at nap time, which is why watercolors are my best painting friend!

All it takes is a little water and a little watercolor paint to make something breathtaking. Pro Tips: make sure you buy some watercolor paper from your local craft store (regular paper will warp with water), sketch out a wobbly little picture with light pencil, fill it in with the colors you like and remember – the messier the better!

One of the magic elements of watercolors is that a little more water equals a lot more of a dreamy quality. Perfectionists beware, you'll have to let your inner child take the wheel on this one!

44) Charge Your Crystals With Fall Energy

Charge Your Crystals With Fall Energy
Charge Your Crystals With Fall Energy

Crystals are a great way to bring up the vibration of your energy, or the energy of your atmosphere. Because science!

They also absorb the energy around them, so grab a few new crystal points from your local natural shop, put them outside in the autumn sun and let them soak up some of that good, electric energy from the crisp air.

Bring them to the office for that lunch time lag (or hide them under Janet's desk bc she needs an attitude cleanse) or set them next to you while you work on a creative project for a boost from Mother Earth!

45) Learn How To Crochet or Knit For Some Cozy Crafting

Learn How To Crochet or Knit For Some Cozy Crafting
Learn How To Crochet or Knit For Some Cozy Crafting

Knitting has been on my craft bucket list for, like, 15 years, and I figured now is as good a time as any to learn how to do it with you guys!

I mean, imagine sitting out on the back porch with a blanket, a warm cup of cocoa and your knitting needles tapping away at one of the 37 scarves you're going to make and give away at Christmas!

I already know that once I start, everyone I've ever met will be getting hand-warmers for at least the next 6 years. This How to Knit: Easy for Beginners tutorial on Youtube is going to make our fall the quaintest ever!

Just please, as tempting as it will be, don't poke pets or small children with your giant knitting needles. Or your S/O, unless they reeeeally deserve it.

46) Take Off On A Fall Camping Trip

Take Off On A Fall Camping Trip
Take Off On A Fall Camping Trip

Oh, camping, how I love thee!

Autumn is my favorite time to squeeze into some thermal underwear, pack my car with way too much stuff and disappear into the wilderness (a.k.a. my campsite with running water and bathrooms very near by) to pretend to be on my own episode of Alone.

If you can handle the withdrawals, turn off you ringer, leave the laptop at home and just spend some time with your tent at your side, a book in your hand and a roaring fire at your feet.

You can even pre-make that hearty stew recipe from #30 and warm it up over your campfire!

Follow a wandering stream into the woods, gaze up at the night stars, listen to the sounds of natural life around you and breathe in that cleansing, wild air!

Getting away for an unplugged trip like this is the medicine you need to keep you going through another 2 months of the daily grind.
